Safety first

The Niro Plus is built with safety in mind. Advanced materials have been used and incorporated with driver-assistance systems to keep you and your passengers safe.

Autonomous Emergency Braking

Using radar and camera data signals, the Niro is able to detect the potential collision with another vehicle, pedestrian, or object ahead, which then applies emergency braking to avoid or reduce the effects of a collision.

Lane Following Assist

A prelude to autonomous driving technology, Lane Following Assist (LFA) is most useful during traffic jams as it controls acceleration, braking and steering depending on the vehicles in front. LFA uses radar and camera to maintain a safe distance to the vehicle ahead and detects road markings to keep the Niro EV in its lane on the motorway.

Lane Keep Assist System

Lane keep assist (LKAS) is designed to alert the driver when the system detects that the vehicle is about to deviate from a traffic lane without any indication. It may also automatically assists the steering of the vehicle to help the driver stay squarely within the lane of travel.

7-airbag system

Your safety is our priority. The Niro is built with dual front airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, front-seat side airbags, and side-curtain airbags that run the length of the passenger cabin to protect occupants in the rear seats.

Advanced high strength steel

The Niro uses more than 53.% advanced high strength steel (AHSS) and hot-stamped steel which greatly improve the body strength, enhance cabin protection and improve dynamic performance.

Blind Spot Detection

The system detects approaching vehicles within a distance of up to 70 meters and warns you when they enter your blind spot zone, and that it may be dangerous to change lanes.

Smart cruise control

The smart cruise control system allows you to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically adjusting the driving speed and allowing you to program the Niro to maintain an appropriate distance to the vehicle in front according to road conditions and vehicle speed.

Electronic Stability Control

ESC incorporates a number of systems to provide improved braking and handling on wet, slippery and rough roads.

Rearview monitor

The rearview camera helps you keep an eye on what's behind you while reversing and provides dynamic guidelines for easier parking.

Front & rear parking assist system

This system uses ultrasonic sensors mounted on the front and rear bumpers to warn of any obstacles when maneuvering into tight spaces for safe and confident parking.

Comfort and style

The Niro Plus interior is all about individual style. In the cockpit, the centre console instantly grabs the attention in true next-generation
electric vehicle style.

Pure style

The Niro EV marks a new, exciting chapter of electric mobility and practicality.

Battery powered

The Niro Plus EV comes with a 7.2kW onboard charger. The charging time to 80% is as low as 47 minutes when using 100kW DC fast charger.

*Driving range figure standards are calculated using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). Actual results achieved will differ according to operating conditions and driving style.

AC Trickle charge

You can charge at home using the 3-pin wall plug charger which is provided with the vehicle. This will take about 29 hours** for the 64kWh battery to charge from 0% to 100%.

**Depending on the condition and durability of the high voltage battery, charger specification and ambient temperature, the time required for charging the high voltage battery may vary.

AC Normal charge

It's possible to install a dedicated AC charger (Type 2) in your garage. Our dealerships can provide the options available and can assist with installation, quotes and conditions. Many public chargers are also AC and will take about 6 hours 10 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%**

**Depending on the condition and durability of the high voltage battery, charger specification and ambient temperature, the time required for charging the high voltage battery may vary.

DC Rapid charge

The quickest way to charge is via a DC public charger. The vehicle can be charged from 0% to 80% in 57 minutes** using a 50kWh charger.  After 80% the charge rate will reduce to maintain battery health.

**Depending on the condition and durability of the high voltage battery, charger specification and ambient temperature, the time required for charging the high voltage battery may vary.

Braking to recharge

The Niro EV has 3-stage regenerative braking, which can be controlled by the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Compared to non-EV cars you may notice the Niro slows faster when your foot is off the accelerator. While you are braking or coasting with your foot off the accelerator, both the Niro converts momentum into energy to recharge the battery.
