Kia and Ebbett Group announce new Napier dealership

Kia Motors and the Ebbett Group, one of New Zealand's leading automotive groups, are pleased to announce the opening of a new Kia dealership in Napier in early 2021.

Ebbett Hawke’s Bay will operate from a new purpose-built facility on Napier’s Tennyson Street, and Dealer Principal Dave Howarth is excited about the opportunity to join the Kia network.

“Kia has been one of New Zealand’s most successful brands over the last few years and we’re delighted to bring it to Napier. It’s a wonderful community we have here and our team are looking forward to offering the first-class service we’re known for on the great range of vehicles that Kia offer” he said.

Kia, a brand with familiar nameplates such as Sportage, Seltos, Sorento and the recently launched Stonic small SUV has recently grown the ranks of its predominantly locally owned dealership network. The appointment of a new dealer is an exciting time for the brand, and one that is not taken lightly, says Todd McDonald, Managing Director of Kia Motors New Zealand.

“The choice of a dealer partner is such a critical relationship to get right, and we always do due diligence when looking to expand the network. The Ebbett Group has a proven track record and we couldn’t be happier with Dave and his team in Napier.”

The Ebbett Group, established in the Waikato in 1928 and now operating 15 dealerships throughout the North Island, made their first foray into the Hawke’s Bay region in early 2020 with the purchase of a majority shareholding in Karamu Holden (since renamed Ebbett Hawke’s Bay).

Ebbett Group Managing Director, Ben van den Engel is thrilled to bring Kia to Napier, saying “It’s a leading brand with an outstanding range of vehicles, and we believe the customer-first approach of Dave and the team at Ebbett Hawke’s Bay will make this dealership a great addition to the city.”
