Valet parking mode

Activate this mode before handing your vehicle over to someone and it will let you monitor the vehicle’s location, driving time, distance and top speed using the Kia Connect App. With Geo-fence alerts it will even alert you when the vehicle strays outside of pre-set limits of geographical areas.

Local POI search

Search for the closest coffee shops or stay informed with the weather not only in the local area, but also enroute and at your destination.

Emergency call

In case of an accident where the airbag is deployed, this feature will automatically contact the Kia Connect 24/7 call centre for your safety. The dedicated SOS button allows you to call the centre yourself if necessary.

What is Kia Connect and how does it work?

Kia Connect refers to connectivity services in the car which provides owners with features such as turning on the ignition remotely and the location of your vehicle, or information including live traffic, and weather forecasts. Kia Connect is fitted with a modem and SIM card and relies on data from a mobile network. Additional functionalities are being added to Kia Connect over time.

Which mobile network provides data? Do I have a choice of mobile network provider?

Kia partners with Singtel, the parent company of Optus, to provide built in SIM cards and mobile data. Kia Connect coverage is linked to the Spark network.

What does the system cost to access?

Kia Connect is offered to all Kia customers for free for five years, in line with Kia's five-year warranty.

Is Kia Connect available in locations with limited or no network connectivity?

Kia Connect is only available when the car is in a good network zone. A working data connection is required to receive information on the phone.

How do I register/enrol for Kia Connect?

You can register for Kia Connect by either the vehicle infotainment system or through our app which can be found in the App Store or Play Store.

How do I unsubscribe from Kia Connect?

You can unsubscribe via the deactivate button through the vehicle infotainment system or the Kia Connect mobile app.

How can I know if my car has Connected services?

If your car is equipped with Kia Connect, you can find the Kia Connect option through the car infotainment screen to activate it.

Will Kia Connect give me advance notice of any important changes to the Privacy Policy or Terms of Service?

Yes, Kia Connect will share details of any important changes with Kia Connect users before the changes will be applied.

What do the buttons located on the overhead console do?

1. The left button is used for setting a destination via Voice Recognition.
2. The red, second button from the left is the SOS button used in the event of a breakdown or emergency

Why does my car take long to start after giving a remote engine start command?

It might take long for your vehicle to remotely start sometimes. To avoid battery drainage, when the vehicle engine is not running the vehicle is in a state of "sleep". Therefore, when an Engine Start command is given, a “wake up" message is sent to the vehicle and it takes a little time for the vehicle to boot up and acknowledge the Engine Start command.

I am having trouble using Kia Connect. Who can I contact?

For technical assistance please contact your nearest Kia dealer. For support with enabling Kia Connect on your vehicle, please contact Kia NZ on (09) 573 6070.

If my vehicle does not have the built-in Kia Connect Service, is there any way to upgrade my vehicle?

The built-in Kia Connect Modem cannot be retrofitted.

What happens after the factory coverage period expires?

You may use the Kia Connect Services after you have activated Kia Connect and for a maximum period of five years or until the vehicle is five years old (whichever occurs first) beginning from the date of first registration of the new vehicle (“Complimentary Period”).

At the end of the Complimentary Period, we will notify you of the terms of your subscription (including fees and payment options) for your continued use of the Kia Connect Services.

If you notify us that you do not wish to continue to use the Kia Connect Services or fail to pay the relevant subscription fees on their due date at the end of your Complimentary Period, we have the right to turn off your access to the Kia Connect Services via your Kia Connect Device.
